SHAKESPEARE HOUSE CHARITY
On Thursday, 20th June, Shakespeare House held a very special assembly where we welcomed
Lindsay Hurrell and Mark Pamment from Re-Cycle (Bikes for Africa), which has been our House charity
this academic year. We showed Mark and Lindsay the fun and fantastic things we have done this year
to raise money for them and they showed us what has been happening at Re-Cycle and how our
money will make such a difference to remote communities in Africa, which was very interesting. We
were able to present Re-Cycle with a cheque for £1,100 which we are very proud of. Next year we
hope to organise a Bike-a-thon and will be compiling a cookery book to sell to aid our fundraising
efforts. Our target for next year is £2,000.
Many thanks to our Shakespeare family who have helped raise this fantastic amount.

Shakespeare house has received a letter from Lindsay Hurrell thanking the school and telling the
following story of how the charity has helped families in Africa.
“Momodou attends Tujereng Upper and Secondary School.
He lives with his father, older sister and a younger brother
on a farm growing groundnut and cassava. His school was
selected to take part in our Cycle to School pilot. He
received a bike along with 20 other students and attended
our one-day workshop. Momodou told us, ‘Before, I would
walk two hours to school, my father gave me money for
food which I often spent on the bus. Now I have a bike I
use the money given to me by my father as lunch money
and my family are very happy.’ Now enjoying school
Momodou’s favourite subject is Mathematics and he
wants to become a teacher when he finishes school.
With your donation we aim to improve more lives through
bicycle re-use. Once again thank you for your kind support.”
